|| das klienicum ||"mit dem ausdauernden namen "i do have secrets and you might think they are interesting" ist das neue album von the odd fiddler ausgestattet. erschienen ist der plink plonk lofi- gigant auf series two records (vol. 1, vol. 2, vol. 3). und wer nur mal ein paar erste takte schnuppert, wird unversehens mit einem lächeln versorgt. solcherart dienstleistungsverhalten ist mir ein fest. ein fest ist es ebenso, vergnügen weiterzureichen, wie ein butterbrot, das man angebissen hat und an liebgewonnene... na, Ihr wisst schon. the odd fiddler bietet herrlich leiernde melodien wie sie beispielsweise auch stars in coma grandios hinbekommt. aufgepeppt wird der krempel mit umgenähtem saum und einer verflixt hübschen bordüre. ob die harmonien von einer hochtönenden flöte, einem claviercord oder einer freundlichen gitarre erzeugt werden, im hintergrund grassiert bestimmt ein wüst-bizarres schlagwerk. garantiert unecht mit zertifikat. the odd fiddler ist pell, der aus stockholm stammt, aber nach london auswanderte und für vocals, guitars, drum machine (!), keys, tambourine verantwortlich zeichnet. auf seinen diversen tonträgern wurde er immer wieder von freunden und kollegen unterstützt. meist kommt er jedoch gut allein zu recht. dass ihm diese art des daseins auch ausreichend stoff bietet, um seine songs inhaltlich aufzupeppen, versteht sich von selbst. also, rechnet mit allem und jedem. "i do have secrets and you might think they are interesting" ist das zweite album, das pell in 2008 auf series two records veröffentlichte. der vorgänger "i wrote yr name on a public toilet" glänzte nicht nur ebenfalls mit einer hübschen überschrift, sondern mit vergleichbar kirren auftritten. für diese art der musik braucht man einen zustand vollständiger entspanntheit oder vielmehr streßfreiheit. die wahrnehmungsorgane müssen gar nicht gepolt oder besonders ausgebildet sein. nur dürfen sie nicht abgelenkt werden, dies führte zur reizüberflutung. denn an reizen mangelt es dieser art des depressivpops sicher nicht. allerdings kommt er nicht mit aufgschürzten lippen daher, sondern zögerlich schleichend. ich bin dem zugetan. pells bisherige discography sieht folgendermaßen aus:"

The Odd Fiddler’s new offering I Do Have Secrets and You Might Think They Are Interesting Ones is an ironic title because it’s nothing you haven’t heard before. The band takes a stab at playing 1980’s style new wave complete with goofy electronic drum beats, synthesizers and vocal droning that could sing someone to sleep. The song titles "Photographs Of?”, "So Will You Marry Me?” and "Did You Phone?” beg many questions but never yield any results that one could regard as progress. The song "Goodbye Filthy Child” has a good acoustic riff that moves along smoothly until off-time keyboards come crashing in. The Odd Fiddler is the work of the elusive lead singer named "Pell” who solicits other members to play live, and after hearing the album it becomes clear why no one has put their real name on it. In all honesty, they sound like a Flock of Seagulls cover band attempting to strike out on their own without the knowledge that the 80s are almost thirty years behind us. Pell sings "It was never my intention to even slightly like you”, sounding like the album was made against everyone’s will. This band might be huge in their hometown of South Stockholm, Sweden, but it doesn’t sound like they’ll be making any big waves across the ocean in North America."
