Fishrider Studio has recorded albums by The Dark Beaks and The Puddle and Junk Shop Star released on the Fishrider Records label. The “Fishrider Sound” (as German fanzine “Guitars Galore” has now christened it) has been played on radio stations from Australasia to the USA and Europe.

We’ve also recorded other locals like The Dry (their excellent “Building on the Construct” post-rock noise masterpiece album), Chihuahua (their vigorous and cathartic “Blubber” EP) and The Gideons (their brilliantly twisted debut EP) plus works-in-progress for vintage surf-dogs Shakes & The Swell Guys and FN Gothic Pop Queen Sandra Bell.

If you are looking for a Neve desk and Neumann microphones you’ve come to the wrong place. We’ve got a winning combination of cheap but decent gear and inexperience that seems to be good for creating an apparently unfashionable medium-fidelity “classic Flying Nun sound” according to New Zealand Musician magazine. We’ve taken that as the highest compliment imaginable.
