Dear Indiepages People,

i was wondering if there was such a place on the internet that would be selling mainly cassettes. i mean, not Popgun or Lil'Lion but a place that would have cassettes by major and some sub-major label artists. is there such a data-base or an online shop?

i was thinking there should be something on Swappingtons that has tapes on it. or perhaps we should start a website that trades tapes. let me know what you think.

BUT if anyone has any tapes such as the SMITHS, Jesus and Mary Chain, Wedding Present, Beat Happening, Tiger Trap, etc.... let me know!

if anyone finds a beat happening tape i will be most jealous. kevin, i know where i could pick up a smiths tape for you but its expensive...like 6 dollars i think. its the bombs one i always forget the name of it. if you would like me to keep a lookout for anything in particular let me know. i only buy tapes there that i can't find anywhere else because they are sort of expensive.

i got husker du - zen arcade there. they have a great selection.

whoa! you found a SMITHS tape!? i will totally trade or pay you for it. let me know, max. :)

i found a Beat Happening's "jamboree" on tape at this mom & pop used record store by my house that has since closed down. i was still in high school, so cassettes were still "in." i even found a Seam ep that was released on cassette off Touch N' Go. other neat things i've seen on cassette was the Tiger Trap album.

i just think tapes are real endearing. i still have Guided By Voices' "Alien Lanes" on tape.

I've got "Louder Than Bombs" on cassette. my friend found it at a flea market for a buck and i bugged him until he sold it to me. I also found the Homestead Rec version of Daniel Johnston's "Hi, How Are You" at my local semi-cool record store. I thought that was weird, I didn't know Homestead was still pressing Danny J stuff. Those are the cooler things in my cassette collection. I'd be willing to trade the DJ tape if anyone really really wanted it though. "Hi, How Are You" isn't my favorite.

I've got a ton of tapes I wanna get rid of (not to mention the 100s of cds/vinyl!); mostly stuff from my high school tape days, like the Cure, Dinosaur Jr, Husker Du, Pixies, REM, Buzzcocks, TMBG, etc. If anybody wants 'em, let me know!

Chris

hey kevin, i have a smiths tape. but i'm afraid you can't have it, if i were you i'd just continually check used record stores and various second hand stores i've found some great stuff in them.
